James O’Neill, CPCU, is the Executive Vice President of Business Development at New Empire Group. He is a graduate of CW Post/ Long Island University who began his insurance career in 1986. Jim has broad based experience in underwriting, claims and marketing succeeding in positions with both carriers and agencies over the past quarter century. Jim joined New Empire Group in 2006 as the Director of Marketing and Business Development and has spearheaded the growth of New Empire from a regional Managing General Agent (MGA) to one with a national focus by building the New Empire producer base throughout the country. Jim is a Board member for the Long Island Insurance Community (LIIC), a charitable organization that raises money for the United Way of Long Island, and actively supports multiple other charities. Jim has completed both the Mossman triathlon and the New York City marathon. Jim is a talented cook who enjoys cooking for his friends and family.
In your experience what qualities do most successful brokers and producers share: I‘ve found that the most successful brokers and producers show up every day and put in a full day every day.
Before joining New Empire Group what was the most interesting or unusual job you’ve ever had? I loved working in restaurants!
If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day? Someone extremely wealthy. They would not have any money left at the end of my day!
What is the most important thing you’ve learned in the last five years? Successful planning requires flexibility.
