week battle of amazing athleticism. Before all of the ‘Madness’ begins, let’s take a look at a few interesting facts about March Madness that you may not know!

  • March Madness” was born in Illinois.
  • Over 9 QUINTILLION – those are the odds of filling out a perfect bracket. That’s one in 9,233,372,036,854,755,808!
  • A No. 16 seed has NEVER beaten a No. 1 seed!
  • A 11 is the lowest seed ever to make the Final Four! Three of them, in fact: LSU in 1986, George Mason in 2006 and VCU in 2011.
  • The lowest seed to win the entire tournament was 8, Villanova in 1985.
  • All four #1 seeds have made it to the final four – ONCE. This happened in 2008.
  • Bigger than the Super Bowl? (Kind of). March Madness generates more revenue from commercials, sponsorships and advertisements than the Super Bowl.
